What are Internet conferences? Internet conferencing uses audio systems and technology to bring people from different geographic locations together for a meeting or class. Internet conferencing technology allows participants to communicate verbally and electronically. Participants can share documents, computer-displayed information and whiteboards.

How do they work? Each participant log onto a website, while the presenter lectures from another computer. The conferencing platform simultaneously shares audio and information so that participants can hear the presenter lecture, see PowerPoint slides, documents and a whiteboard. Participants can also interact with the presenter/other participants, by speaking into their microphones, or “chat” using their keyboard.

What do you need to participate? Participants need a computer, a high-speed Internet connection and speakers. Microphones are optional.

What is the cost of a conference? The cost of the conference depends on the number of sessions. The fee for a one-session series is $50 per school. Subsequent sessions are $25 extra. If a conference has two sessions, for example, the cost is $75. The cost of a series with three sessions is $100. Schools can have an unlimited number of participants, provided that they are logged onto one computer or network.

Note: Registered schools/institutions receive one Internet conferencing series free of charge. All subsequent series are offered to members at 20% off.
