The Lookstein Principals' Program is Entering its Tenth Year!

Join more than 200 past participants who have investigated and found answers to the following questions:

  • How can day school leaders build collaborative educational culture amongst teachers and students in their schools? How can the principal build a school culture that embraces change and improvement?

  • How can the school vision and mission find expression in the educational program? How can the principal help students develop connections to Jewish tradition and culture, to Israel and to Jewish religious expression within a competing culture and society?

  • How can day school leaders better understand their own leadership style, their strengths and weaknesses, and use this learning to become more successful and dynamic leaders?

This project’s focus on the culture of the school has allowed us to identify new avenues of growth that need to be worked on next year, and in following years. My interaction with my mentor was very positive. Her two visits to Denver energized our entire staff with her fresh thoughts and concrete ideas. These ideas will continue to be worked on in future years. Having a format to follow, a mentor to work with, and reports to write helped keep us on track and forced us to evaluate our successes and weaknesses. This will be an important lesson for us in the future as we create strategies and systems for growth in the future. Finally, spending time in Israel and Florida with a group of educators who I became friendly with, has helped me create a network of professionals who I can now call upon for advice and guidance.
- Daniel Alter, Denver Academy of Torah, Denver

This year was a significant milestone in our growth as leaders. We learned that successful change occurs first by identifying a need and then systematically planning ways to generate the support of administration, colleagues and staff members in the initiative. This collaborative effort is the power that drove this project forward at a rate that far exceeded our goals.
- Beverley Young and Anita Eckhaus, Bialik Hebrew Day School, Toronto

The 10 days spent in Israel on the program made such an impact on me both personally and professionally. A day does not go by that I do not think of the many lessons learned and the wonderful experience.
- Dovid Smoller, Chabad Hebrew Academy, San Diego

The Principals' Program presents a unique professional growth opportunity for day school leaders.
