The Summer Seminar
July 7-17, 2008
Ramat Gan & Jerusalem, Israel

The Mid-Winter Seminar
Projected date: February 22-24, 2009
Miami, Florida

The Principals' Program, which for the past eight years has been a leading professional development opportunity for day school leaders, has been re-designed into a unique year-long model that includes:

  • Preparatory learning activities
  • A 10-day summer seminar in Israel including focus on content areas, related leadership skills and the development of an action research plan for implementation in school
  • Expert guidance from a Lookstein mentor in implementing the action research plan during the school year
  • Involvement in an ongoing web-based discussion group
  • A mid-winter follow-up seminar in North America
  • A professional development journey as part of a strong, committed group of Jewish educational leaders, with whom long lasting collegial bonds are formed

The summer seminar program includes presentations by leading experts in the field, facilitated discussions and workshops, and individualized mentoring. Participants learn from outstanding academics and practitioners and interact with peers so that they benefit from each other's experience and expertise. In the course of the summer seminar, each participant selects a project to be implemented in his or her school and works with a mentor on the development of an action research plan.

School heads, principals and assistant principals from North American day schools are eligible for this program.

Tuition fees for this program are sponsored by a generous grant from the AVI CHAI Foundation. Those accepted are required to pay a $200 registration fee.

Application deadline: April 7, 2008. Registration is limited to 20 participants.
