Lookstein.org was launched in 1998 to address two major needs in Jewish education: the need of Jewish educators to engage in ongoing and substantive reflection and discussion, and the need for access to quality curricular and instructional materials. To this end, Lookstein.org has:

• built  educational e-communities by offering forums for Jewish educators to meet, discuss and share various viewpoints and resources
• developed online resources and instructional materials for Jewish schools
• offered online opportunities for professional development and enrichment
• created support programs to aid Jewish schools wishing to integrate technology in their curricula
