POSITION OVERVIEW
The English Teacher is a full-time teacher and member of the English Department. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where value is placed on the skills and passions of the discipline within a larger context of Milken’s school mission, core values, and educational philosophy. Primary responsibilities include teaching 5 English classes per year (12.5 classroom hours per week), serving as a Student Advisor, and collaborating on school-wide programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide differentiation and intervention when necessary and appropriate.
-Monitor progress of each student for mastery of course standards.
-Provide consistent high quality feedback to students that is consistent with articulated course standards.
-Design high quality, student centered lessons that are well-sequenced in terms of content and developmental appropriateness.
-Create a safe and welcoming learning environment.
-Engage with students outside of the classroom through office hours, extracurricular activities, clubs, and school-wide programming.
-Pursue ongoing professional development.
-Maintain clear and ongoing professional communication with parents and students.
