Middle School GS Principal

Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy in Beverly Hills, CA seeks a Middle School General Studies Principal to begin in July 2019. The Principal oversees the General Studies program of Hillel’s Middle School. The Middle School Principal:

*Serves as a master educator for all parts of the Middle School community.
*Oversees the implementation of the General Studies educational program that is coherent, well-articulated, and aligned to the school’s mission
*Promotes academic excellence in General Studies in the Middle School
*Trains GS middle school faculty to understand and respond to the unique developmental stage of young adolescents
*Recruits, hires and maintains top-tier faculty through the selection, support, and hire as well as the development of individual teachers and the nurturing of a positive professional culture that strives for excellence
*Assists the Middle School (Judaic) Principal in managing the day-to-day operations of the division with empathy, skill, compassion, and humor
*Manages the daily schedule and the master calendar in conjunction with the larger administrative team.
*Manages General Studies middle school budget and spending
*Ability to grasp the complexities of a school’s total operation and constituent relationships

The Ideal Candidate will exhibit the following:
*Prior leadership in a middle school setting, preferably in a variety of contexts
*Has built communities of learning on campus
*Has knowledge of educational trends
*A natural inclination to work collaboratively with a team of educational leaders in the other divisions of the school
*Can lead the Educational Technology program (meeting the standards of an Apple Distinguished School)
*Has effectively executed successful campus projects and programming
*Has shown a keen interest in being involved in the local community
*Is articulate, inspiring and reassuring
*Is innovative and creative
*Is diplomatic when necessary; candid when appropriate
*Understands the importance of appropriate and timely communication
*Is patient, kind, good-humored and able to celebrate

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Holds a Master’s degree or beyond
*Has extensive background with educational technology and its successful integration
*Has prior experience as an educational administrator in a middle or high school
