The Idea School is a co-ed, modern Orthodox high school located at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly, NJ. The Idea School opened in 2017 with our first class of 13 freshmen and is now in our fourth year of operation, with a student body of 77 students across all four grades. For the academic year of 2022-23, we are eagerly anticipating growing our talented faculty.

We are currently seeking a Head of our Math Department who will also teach designated math classes.

Requirements:
A B.A. and M.A. in mathematics
At least seven years’ teaching experience
Experience in infusing project-based learning into math a plus

Job description:
Oversee the school’s math department, setting curriculum and providing mentorship to the math teachers
Teach a variety of math courses, including Algebra II, Pre-calculus, Calculus and Physics, and Statistics
Inspire students to love math and see it in the world around them
Collaborate with partner teachers
Develop a learning environment that inspires student growth and development
Create a classroom environment conducive to productive and inspiring learning
Assess students using a variety of real-time, summative, and formative alternative assessments
Differentiate learning and assessments based on students’ needs
Participate in faculty and school meetings
Communicate effectively with parents and students
Participate in school-wide professional development and see it as an ongoing dynamic process
Provide ideas and insights into how the faculty can infuse math into project-based learning units
Be willing to learn new skills to enhance classroom experience and teach math content
Utilize the school’s learning management system to successfully support classroom learning
