Parsonage and Social Security

As the negotiator for a team of Torah Educators in a large Metropolitan
Yeshiva Day School, I have been fighting for more benefits for our staff.
Until now our school has not been contributing the employers %7.65
towards Social Security. Their claim is that any Rabbi claiming parsonage
must be considered self-employed thereby not subject to the FICA act
(requiring employers to contribute half the amount towards Social
Security) EVEN FOR THE NON-PARSONAGE AMOUNT. This leaves us with the
burden of contributing the full %15.3 ourselves.

I am interested in querying as many schools as possible to find out how
the parsonage/social security issue is handled at the various
metropolitan Day Schools.

If you are interested in helping please e-mail me at arindus@juno.com and
let me know what your school does.

I will gladly supply anyone with the results!
