Dear All,
Heaven forbid! I did not accuse Yitzchak Avinu of pedophilia!
I asked if anyone out there was ever asked the question concerning the Midrash that he married Rivkah when she was three years old and what they answered.
There is no need to psychoanalyze two simple questions.
I do think it was very revealing that so far no one has mentioned that anyone did ask them this question.
As for the answers, I enjoyed reading them and agree with the vast majority of the points that were made.
Just one more question: In all of the Sefer Berayshit (you can check your Bar Ilan disk), the word Ne'arah, meaning a young girl is spelled without the letter "Hay" at the end, including in the story of Rivkah marrying Yitzchak. The first time the word is spelled with the "Hay" at the end in the Torah is Devarim 22:19.
Can we therefore assume that the word, Ne'arah, without the letter "Hay" refers to a girl younger than 12? The assumption is that until puberty, a young girl – Ne'arah – still looks like a Na'ar. Do you agree?
Thanks to all,
David
