Unit on shevuah she'einah birshuti
Unit on shevuah she’einah birshuti (Baba Metziah 34B)
This unit is designed to demonstrate to students how the Talmud is relevant to the social and economic issues confronting society today. It deals with the sugya of shevuah she’einah birshuti (Baba Metziah 34B). Rather than have a cow as the pikadon, the author used a collector’s edition of a cricket bat. (Obviously, each educator will have to determine what item will best fit their classroom context). Then the students put on Edward DeBono’s Thinking Hats to discuss how they feel about owning such a bat and how they could go about acquiring it.
