Recommended session time: 2 hours

For teachers who teach in a face-to-face classroom, the transition to online teaching can be overwhelming. What should be included and what should be left at the wayside? What tools to use? How to design instruction to engage students while also supporting them emotionally? How should teachers manage their time? Participants will leave the program with a set of tangible to dos as they design their own school program.

 

Essential Elements: Live Online Teaching for Total Beginners
Recommended session time: 2 hours

For teachers who teach in a face-to-face classroom, the transition to online teaching can be overwhelming. This deep dive into into Zoom (web conferencing software) will begin with a tour of the interface, the basics of running a class, and walk you through typical troubleshooting. Participants will leave the program able to navigate and use Zoom with their students.

Essential Elements: Engaging Students in your Live Online Classroom 
Recommended session time: 2 hours

Drawing on years of experience in the field,  Lookstein staff will share best practices for running active and engaging sessions online.  We will discuss  lesson planning, for virtual classrooms, pedagogic tools, “classroom” management etc.

Instructional Tools for Asychronous Learning
Recommended session time: 2 hours

How can you teach without being physically present? We will look at free tools so that you can create engaging content for students to use anytime anywhere, focusing on  content presentation,  collaborative projects, and assessment.

Creating Video Content for Student Learning
Recommended session time: 2 hours

Video creation can help teachers present content to students.  We will learn how to create concise, logically organized, visually pleasing, and pedagogically sound  videos following research-based multimedia principles.
