1. After the Israelites sin, God wants to destroy them, and offers Moshe to be the head of a new nation. Moshe refuses, and insists on defending the Israelites. If you were the head of a company which was in financial trouble, and you could save the company (and the jobs of a dozen employees) by firing yourself, would you?

  2. One of key arguments that Moshe's uses to save the Israelites was that destroying them would create a Hillul Hasehm - a desecration of God's name. Apparently as a result of Moshe's argument, God relents. What other kinds of behaviors create a Hillul Hashem? Does Hillul Hashem only apply to those things which are public?
