Daniel Roth asks whether teachers include various different opinions when teaching about the mitzvah to conquer the land of Israel and live there.

This question is hardly specific to commandments relating to the land of Israel. I believe that most teachers recognize the cognitive development of their students and choose the appropriate stage when introducing uncertainty into their lessons.

I am often surprised to read yet another article in which a student in university – oftentimes one whose Jewish education did not extend beyond elementary school – writes that he was taught a sugar-coated story about the State of Israel. There is certainly a time to introduce complexities about Israel into the classroom, but a good teacher knows when and where to do it.
