<HTML>As every Jewish educator knows, the backbone of a quality Jewish
Day School education is quality teachers, and the shortage of good
teachers has reached crisis proportions in most Jewish communities in
North America. In an attempt to address this pressing need, last year
Drisha Institute for Jewish Education and Beit Rabban joined together to
establish HaSha'ar, a unique fellowship program in Jewish Education
designed to train future day school teachers. In addition to fully
subsidized tuition, we offer each HaSha'ar fellow an $18,000 stipend to
support his or her full-time immersion in a twelve month course of study.
During this year, Fellows participate in a curriculum which integrates
intensive study of classical Jewish texts with seminars in the ideas and
practice of education, as well as guided observation and practice in a
variety of day school settings. Following the year of study, fellows
commit to two years of teaching full-time in a day school in the greater
New York area.
Once in a while every Jewish educator comes across student or
colleague brimming with potential, one who is deeply devoted both to
Jewish learning and to the needs of the Jewish community, who is
knowledgeable, talented and committed. We offer you the opportunity to
channel the talents of these promising individuals in a way that will not
only provide them with strong foundations for a professional career, but
