<HTML>Corrections on Rav Kuk citation:
1. The reference to Rav Kuk's approval of the Meiri's position
was supposed to be to Iggerot volume 1 *page* 99 (no. 89), and not *no.*
99 as I incorrectly posted. Sorry.
2. Rabbi Carmy's point is well taken. Ever since I first read
the passage in Rav Kuk, I automatically assumed he was referring to the
gamut of the Meiri's complementary statements about the non-Jews of his
day. But upon reading it again with Rabbi Carmy's question in mind, I see
that was an unwarranted assumption.

The Meiri's uniform position on these matters touched on more than one
area of halakha. So it is tempting to suggest (as I was tempted) that
approval of his position in one area implies approval in all areas. But
Rabbi Carmy is of course correct that Rav Kuk didn't actually write this.
