The niqqud of the hhet in "nahhala" is a hhataf-patahh, which comes
in place of a sheva'. Therefore, with a 1a23(a) pattern, it's
possible that "nahhala" is actually a segolate, like "sefer",
"yeled", "yalda", etc. Segolates in general have their plurals
formed with a sheva' under the first consonant and a qomatz under the
second -- "sefer"~"sefarim", "yeled"~"yeladim", "yalda"~"yeladot".
Hence, "*nahhla"~"nehhalot".
