Without disagreeing with all of the comments about how Yair Sheleg was mistaken in laying the blame for violence in Israel on the study of Tanakh without traditional commentaries, I would like to point out an essential kernel of truth that his article contains.

What teachers talk about in class makes a difference.

Many things go on in our classrooms and sometimes we may forget that we are not teaching subjects - we are teaching students. This can serve as a reminder to us that teachers have a lot of power. We must use it wisely.
