I wonder whether it is time for us to stop forcing students to work on their own when taking tests. In the real world no one ever is expected to work that way. When any of us are faced with a challenge at work we Google the answer, Tweet the question to our followers or crowdsource on Facebook. Even if wifi is down, we turn to our colleagues to see if anyone else has encountered this situation and has successfully dealt with it.
Why do we continue to punish our students for using methods that are acceptable in every setting except for the classroom?
