I can't address this from the school's perspective but as a parent of two (now grown and successful, thank you) sons with special learning needs, I will say that a school that's not forthcoming about its ability to work with a particular child can do tremendous damage. At best, it wastes year(s) of a child's life and the parents' tuition money. In the long run, that can be very bad for a school's reputation.
