As a parent of four and a teacher of many more, I most certainly agree with your points. Unfortunately the word limit for the Amazon "teaser" forces one to keep things very brief. I would encourage you to take a look at the book itself. As I note in the introductory chapter, I wrote this book with the belief that:

"No one has a foolproof recipe for successful parenting. Many factors are beyond our control even in the lives of “normal” kids, to say nothing about children who struggle with physical illness, disabilities, or the like.
...
There are no guarantees, but if we can illuminate...key perceptions and practices...we can tilt the odds in our favor. As we will see, none of these are quick-fix techniques. Bringing them to bear in our lives can require a fundamental change in how we see our families, our children, and ourselves."

I look forward to continuing the discussion.
