From time to time, I hear about high school seniors, from our community and from others, who very much want to spend a year or two learning in Israel, but whose families cannot afford the expense. Does anyone know of any organization(s) that offer financial assistance for students who want to learn in a seminary or yeshiva in Israel? (I know that students who enroll at YU and spend their first year at one of the seminaries or yeshivas on YU’s list are eligible for all the federal student aid and loan programs, but sometimes that is not enough, and sometimes students want to learn at a school that is not on YU’s list, and sometimes students do not want to enroll at YU.)
