I would like to thank Michael Broyde for sharing both Ari Segal's article and his response to it. Without question, we are raising our children today in much more complicated times than existed in previous generations.

At the same time I question whether dealing with homosexuality in the Orthodox community is truly "The Biggest Challenge to Emunah in Our Time." In the United States, under 4% of the population identifies as being LGBT (see [en.wikipedia.org]). While the Torah does forbid homosexual relations, there is, at least theoretically, no discrimination against people who have homosexual tendencies.

At the same time, about half of the Jewish community is made up of women, who are discriminated against in a wide variety of halakhic matters - ranging from daily activities, like being restricted from full participation in synagogue ritual to significant areas like the ability to divorce.

Surely the status of women in the Orthodox community is a more immediate issue that needs to be resolved.
