The Barkai schools in Israel (and Brooklyn) have a system of teaching which is closer to the Mishna in Avot "At age five one learns Mikra, at age ten one learns Mishna, and at age fifteen one learns Gemara".
Has anyone done studies that examine how the students do in the Barkai system in comparison to other school systems?
