We are in the process of working on how to focus more on Yerushalayim this summer and while the 50th anniversary is significant, we did not want to mainly concentrate of this short period but put it in the perspective of our connection over thousands of years and have the anniversary as a culmination.
We want it to be a major theme that both chinukh (maybe once a week) and other components of camp revolve around.
We would like to work on a timeline including tanakh and midrashic references to Yerushalayim (by midrashic I refer to ××“× ×ž×ž×§×•× ×›×¤×¨×ª×• × ×‘×¨×¨, קרבן ××“× ×”×¨×שון, קין והבל etc.) and find a sub- themes for each bunk to work on a project and maybe build a big kotel out of these sub-tiles.
Bunks could be assigned neighborhoods, events, midrashim or all of the above. We would like to do other little programs throughout the summer including maybe short news flashes every day.
I figure there are probably people who have already put a lot of thought into this and invented the wheel or maybe there is a treasure out there that people know about.
Any suggestions or suggested resources?
