Kol Hakavod to Jeff Saks for raising the issue, and I especially appreciated Yitzy Blau’s thoughtful reflections. Years ago, Erica Brown wrote a very insightful piece called Sincerity and Authenticity - [www.yutorah.org]. It addresses many of the same issues, albeit from a somewhat different perspective, and is a worthwhile read.
