Based on my doctoral dissertation (The Contribution of the Parent Volunteer to School Culture: Ethnographic Case Study), I'd say parents can have a very strong positive, as well as negative, influence on the school culture. This touches upon the important socialization aspect of education (see Durkheim's "Education and Sociology"). I'd say this applies to the higher grades too. As far as school culture per se, I recommend the various books and articles of T.E. Deal and K.D. Peterson such as "Shaping School Culture" (as well as Peterson and Deal!)--too many to list here.
You can also do a Google Scholar search for "leadership and school culture"--there is plenty on that too. People tend to overlook the importance of school culture, and focus on just the academic aspect of education. My mantra is that the "hinuch" is as important as the "haskalah." Good luck!
