<HTML>The recent issues raised on the list have generated quite a bit of
discussion. In fact, they have generated so much discussion that I am
getting nervous that the sheer length of this mailing will discourage
people from reading any of it. I ask the following: Please try and keep
your posts concise. One of the ideas behind this list is to generate
discussion between educators behind the scenes. If someone writes
something of concern or interest to you, a fuller conversation can take
place off-list. I try to keep the list neat with headings and breaks
between topics so that you can easily see if any of the topics interest
you. Forgive me if you find your post returned for editing or if I do some
minor editing myself.

That said, I am turning the moderating job over to an old friend and
colleague, Rabbi Zvi Grumet, who will watch over things while I am
accompanying a group of my students on an educational trip to Poland.
Aside from being a contributor to this list, Rabbi Grumet is a member of
the Lookstein Center's Senior Educators Program this year.

Finally, I would like to share with you a post that I received from a
student lurking on the list. While I don't see this list as a forum for
students, this particular post puts into perspective some of the issues
that we have been grappling with. Who better than a student can say how
role models in school affect them?</HTML>
