<HTML>Talmudic conversations often have the form of " 'Rabbi This said that' and
'Rabbi That said this' ". I understand that, in some examples, the quoted
rabbis may not have been in fact contemporaneous and the statements may
actually represent their schools at a later date. I have heard this
dynamic described as a "dialogue across the generations". Does anyone
know of a source or reference for that expression in particular?
