Jewish texts on aging

May 17, 1999 04:00AM
<HTML>I have just returned from Israel where I sat shiva for my brother who
died after a three-year battle against cancer. My brother, z"l, was a
professor of social work at Tel Aviv University and specialized in care
for the aging. As part of an azkara, I would like to lead an evening of
limud Torah at the school that I direct in Washington and am looking for
any mekorot that deal with the topic of aging in Judaism. There are, of
course, many related stories throughout Tanach (David ha'melech, just to
cite one example) and some halachic material (lifnei sayva takum), but I
am interested in knowing if there are more extensive and comprehensive
studies/curricula/articles that have been written on the topic. Please
let me hear from you if you can be of help.
