Dealing with some difficult classroom questions

June 02, 1999 04:00AM
<HTML>Shalom

Hope all is well with you. I have been enjoying this list immensely.

Two questions:

1) A student of mine recently asked me why I believe specifically in the
God of Israel. How would you articulate an answer?

2) Another student read the Gemara in Sukkah 29a regarding solar eclipses
as a siman kelalah. He asked why we should believe this Gemara, now that
we know that solar eclipses are a completely natural and predictable
occurrence. How would you answer this question in a classroom?

Thank you very much, and kol tuv
