The Mandel Foundation (formerly CIJE) has just published "The Leaders
Report: A Portrait of Educational Leaders in Jewish Schools," an empirical
study of Jewish educational leadership in Atlanta, Baltimore, and
Milwaukee, by Ellen B. Goldring, Adam Gamoran, and Bill Robinson. The
study looked at professional preparation, careers tracks in Jewish
education, and conditions of work. It's not the last word on the subject,
but for those interested in more than just anecdote, it's a place to
start.
