I am teaching a class in Mishnayot Berachot this semester to a group of
10-th-12th grade public high school students in a Sunday morning Hebrew
High School. One of the Mishnayot that I am teaching is 3:3, which
discusses, among other things, the ptur of women from saying kriat Shema.
I am wondering if anyone out there can suggest an approach or two for
dealing with the more general concept of the ptur for women from mitzvot
aseh she-hazman grama. The class is a coed group brought up in modern day
America without the benefit of a halachic background or mindset. The
usual apologetics that often pass for shiurim on this topic may not
suffice for this class.
My thanks to anyone who can offer an angle.
