<HTML>As a prospective teacher in the field of Jewish education, I greatly enjoy
the varied discussions on LOOKJED.

Currently I am in a course for which I have chosen to write a paper about
the controversial issue of "touching." Teachers are continuously reminded
that they may not in any way touch the students, even in classes as young
as preschool. I have spoken to some teachers who find this very difficult,
because sometimes a young child needs to be embraced or a pat on the back.
Another teacher mentioned that she had to stand by while two students
fought in her classroom.

In Jewish Education the issue of "touching" enters a different realm.
For example, how do we explain chagigot (celebrations) at which simcha
dancing takes place?

Has anyone seen articles about this new issue in education, and
particularly in Jewish Education. Thank you.
