The most comprehensive report about K-12 online learning to date is most likely a report issued by the Dept. of Education entitled "Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices in Online Learning: A Meta-Analysis and Review of Online Learning Studies" (June 26, 2009).

Although the report finds modestly better results for students who engaged in online learning, one important limitation of the report is the lack of available rigorous published studies conducted for K-12 online learning. Most of the data was obtained from higher education studies.
