I just tried to mix oil and water just to reassure myself that some things never change. Children often have fun experimenting with adding food-colouring and detergent to oil and water. It will then – if you screw on the lid really tight and shake the bottle as hard as you can – give the illusion that the liquids are merging together. But of course it’s only an illusion……..
