I loved the Jay Goldmintz' idea of giving Sefer Ezra meaning by bringing contemporary Israel aliyah narratives into the classroom.

One source for materials on why people choose to move to Israel today is the Nefesh B'Nefesh site. See, for example, [www.nbn.org.il]

Finding people who are willing to share their reasons for remaining in the Diaspora is more difficult (aside from the individuals who accuse Israel of being an "apartheid state" who are anxious to tell their story). Still, there are some stories like this one - [www.huffingtonpost.com] - where the author admits that she won't make aliyah because she is scared.
