"Anti-Semitism is ugly, painful and upsetting"

True, but it can also be edifying and inspiring. We can use these teachable moments to convey a positive lesson.

While anti-semitism is part of the general bigotry towards those who are different, it is also much more than that. Read Why the Jews by Dennis Prager to see how the endurance, depth and breadth of anti-Semitism are not accounted for by conventional analyses of human nature. Mr. Prager's insight is found in Chazal, which says the impetus for Sinah against yisrael is rooted in Sinai. We are hated because we were given the Torah.

When anti-Semites continue to make a big deal about a people less than 1% of the world's population, it's because we are a big deal. We are special because we carry G-d's message. That's a beautiful task and an important responsibility, but that makes anti-Semites uncomfortable.

Read Faith After the Holocaust by Eliezer Berkovits to see how Hitler was correct to feel threatened by the politically weak Jewish people. Nazi ideology cannot ultimately coexist with the message of Sinai. Hitler understood that, but reacted to this truth in the worst way imaginable.
