This is typical. Few people, let alone students, read newspapers. They get their news on line or from Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah. Their newsfeeds, if they get them at all, have few —if any—photos, only bullet points.
Few students watch the national news reports or listen to the news on radio. They wake up to the music on their devices, drive while listening to them or to Sirius radio. They listen to podcasts only on topics that interest them, watch channels that have no news programs. Why are you surprised?
