Openly gay students attending day schools

I am curious to know how schools are reacting to or treating incidences of gay students, transgender talk, and/or transvestite (cross gender dressing). Is there a protocol or anything in school guidelines addressing this? Is there a difference in responses between modern orthodox day schools (co-ed) and single gender schools?
