I have been asked to prepare a Torah Shebealpeh curriculum for grades 6-8
girls. Let me explain what my principal wants. My school is a modern
orthodox co-ed Day School in which the students are separated from grade
5. At that point the boys learn Mishna, followed by Gemara. The girls do
not learn Mishna or Gemara, however our school board wants to "compensate"
the girls by instituting a course called Torah Shebealpeh. They are very
hazy as to what their goals are. Therefore, I have a pretty free hand and
can almost do anything I want to, as long as it is age appropriate and has
some primary Gemara and Mishna sources as part of it. Any topic would be
acceptable. My preferences are Mitzvot Bein Adam Lechaveiro, Middot,
Tefillah, Women in Tanach. If anyone knows of an elementary school where
there are similar courses, please let me know. I would be grateful for any
advice on materials that are already prepared.
Thank you,
