[The requests for suggestions for developing curricula in Torah Shebaal
Peh is one example of the importance of keeping abreast of what is used in
the Israeli school system. Bar Ilan University has developed an entire
series in Torah Shebaal Peh for upper elementary school and high school
here in Israel. Their workbooks include such topics as Hashavat Aveida,
Ahavat HaZulat, Tza'ar Ba'alei Hayim, parent/child relationships, and
violence in society. They also have a survey text "Mavo LeTorah Sheba'al
Peh" . These curricula, developed in conjunction with Misrad HaHinukh,
have both student and teacher editions. All of these books use selected
sources from Gemara, Rishonim and Poskim, and could probably be adapted
for use in Diaspora schools.
