I recently had the opportunity to observe a Reform youth service which
used a guitar to help the students sing through the Shacharit service.

1) Why have we (Orthodox) eliminated much of the singing of Tfillah.
Most don't sing even the Hallel (unless it's Shabbat or Holiday) - Rosh
Chodesh on Sunday usually is chick-chock davening.

2) If in the time and environment of the Temple music was needed/desired,
isn't is a Kal v'Chomer that we need it (or at least that it would
increase Kavana)?

3) I have heard that in certain European communities prior to WWII,
Kabbalat Shabbat was accompanied by musical instruments. Any
corroboration?

Thanks.
