<HTML>Dear Shalom:
Regarding the posting about teaching Tanakh with the t'amim: Beginning in
fourth grade at the Yeshivah of Flatbush, one of the teaching aids that we
regularly employ in Chumash instruction is indeed the t'amim (particularly
the etnahta). Since our instruction is in Hebrew using the Hebrew text,
the t'amim often reduce the difficulty in understanding Biblical Hebrew.
They provide the natural breaks in the pasuk and often indicate what goes
with what. This can be quite important due to the uniqueness of Hebrew
syntax.
