<HTML>Rabbi Dr. Sheldon Schwartz, of the S.A.R. school, wrote an excellent doctoral dissertation on teaching Sifrei Shemuel in the Middle School, with an emphasis on a literary approach. I would recommend it without reservation.
There are also some "classics:"
* Chaim Dov Rabinowitz: Madrikh leHora'at Nevi'im Rishonim (Torah U'Mesorah, 1968)
* Eliyahu Shachor: Ma'arkhei Shi'ur beTanakh: Shemuel Alef (Tel Aviv, 1981)
* Yissakhar Yaakovson: She'elot le-Iyyun beNevi'im Rishonim
(Yerushalayim, 1971)
I also have a list of about 30 articles which appeared in Bisdei Hemed (et.al.) on teaching specific texts or issues of Shemuel, which I cannot email but would be glad to snailmail or fax to anyone interested.
