<HTML>The multiple opportunities for the study of tanakh yomi suggested in
Lookjed 32 indicate that this idea has wide currency among the educated
Orthodox community. However, let me remind you that it was none other
than Rabbi David Eliach who initially raised the question in this forum.
I doubt that anyone would question that though the idea is sound, it has
received scant attention. This suggests that the problem lies not with
the viability or implementation of the idea, but rather, with its
marketing. Though the Israeli army, Dr. Bryna Levy and others have
contributed nuances to the development of a sound program of study, no
serious public relations campaign has been undertaken to implement such a
program.
To my mind, this is indicative of a greater problem in the modern orthodox
educational community. Though "we" may have many good ideas, "we" are
unable to compete in the "marketplace" (or "shuk") since we have not been
trained to advertise.
