Do we really need a school library in the age of the Internet? Getting information off the internet is like taking a drink from a fire hydrant! What does the school library do for the school? It raises the level of achievement and supports the school’s educational goals. The professional librarian provides teachers with the newest and best sources of information, reinforces reading skills in both Hebrew and English, and acts as a bridge between Judaic and secular studies. Project-based learning and innovative library programs enrich the curriculum in many ways.
The Association of Jewish Libraries has developed a power point presentation highlighting four different yeshiva day schools, showing how their libraries help support the goals of their schools. The power point outlines the benefits of a well-funded school library run by a professional librarian. School administrators, rabbis and teachers are pivotal in fostering school library programs!
