<HTML>The educational and lay leadership of a school together set the school's
agenda and its educational philosophy. If that includes Religious Zionism
as a key component, then decisions about faculty appointments need to take
that into account.
The particular question about Yom Ha`atzmaut is secondary, for a school
committed to religious Zionism would want that message conveyed throughout
the school year, not only on one particular day. Only faculty members who
are committed to the same values as the school can be entrusted with
teaching its core values.
If, as a result of whatever reasons, there is a faculty member who does
not agree with the school policy, it is incumbent on that faculty member
to be respectful of that policy nonetheless and not undermine the
educational message of the school, no different than if he disagreed with
any other school policy. Watering down the school's message to please the
faculty is educationally irresponsible.</HTML>
