<HTML>We begin Yom HaAtzmaut with a community tefila. About 800 people come
for davening, using the seder tefilot established by the rabbanut when Rav
Goren was Chief Rabbi (Hallel with berakha, night and day). (A copy of
the "mahzor" is available free on request, if the volume of requests is
reasonable. Send me your mailing address.) For many of the 400 women
there, this is the only time besides Kol Nidrei that they are in shul for
arbit [maariv - zg]. This is followed by a short talk and a major
performance by the school choir, then some dancing.
The next morning basically repeats the program for the students (most of
the people at night are adults)--although we say shaharit instead of
arbit and have an hour of spirited dancing before the assembly. Dismissal
before lunch.
