<HTML>Some eleven years ago I was looking for material to add a religious
zionist spiritual dimension to the Yom HaAtzmaut celebrations of my
family. My parents sent me a copy of a "Haggada for Yom HaAtzmaut" that
had been written by Rabbi Shlomo Goren zt"l some years before and
distributed in the U.S. When I called Rabbi Goren, he did not remember
where he had put the original text he had written in Hebrew, so I used the
one my parents sent as a stimulus for writing my own "Pirkei Keriah
ve-Seudah le-Yom HaAtzmaut". My family and I have been using it ever
since - last year we even had the privilege of using it with our oldest
grandson, who is now six. It has helped us transmit our attitudes
concerning G-d's great gift to us to our children, and we are pleased with
the results - thank G-d!
Over the years some friends have gotten copies, and used the text for a
Yom HaAtzmaut meal with their families. This year I have typed it up as a
Word 6 file (Hebrew, 25 pages), and distributed copies at a conference of
rabbis last week on the topic of "The Contemporary Significance of Yom
HaAtzmaut", and in my home community, Moshav Hemed, and plan to distribute
some more copies later this week. It is suitable for a family meal and
for a community or school affair. While it may be too late to be used
this year, I am willing to send copies to a reasonable number of
interested people, for them to consider (if the demand is high, I
don't think I can handle the cost of distribution). I can fax the text
from my computer, if that can work at reasonable cost. I freely grant
anyone who wishes, the right to photocopy and/or use the text for personal
family or for communal or school use, but reserve the rights for
commercial publication.
