<HTML>One of the things that works well with high school students re: drug abuse
is a peer mentor program. I run this kind of program in an independent
school in N.Y. (not a yeshiva). It puts older students in a leadership
role and allows them (under my supervision) to dialogue with younger
students about some of the very real situations they face. Older students
need to be chosen carefully and guidelines re: confidentiality need to be
established. I found the younger students much more receptive to other
students than to adults.
